CANOE -- CNEWS - Tech News: Tech At Home Digital homes taking shape

Tech At Home Digital homes taking shape
We are starting to see more and more articles like this one claiming that the home is being more infused with domestic technology, not all surveillance related obviously. The key points here are the ease of the transition from a non-networked to a networked home and the "mapping out of needs". The networking of a home is more easily done while the home is being built but this technology can be added after the fact as well. What is of interest is the "needs" aspect of this movement. What are the needs of a homeowner when it comes to facilitating domestic life? Are these needs new needs or simply attempts at doing more because we can do more? Are these needs truly desired or is there a sense of novelty at work here?
